Mother Mary’s statement:

No matter how hard the climb may be,
I will make it easy for you.
As you go through this path, you may feel like a sponge that takes in negativities and even illnesses from people, places and things. You will feel like you are being subjected to “spiritual attacks”. Over time, you will find that you will pick-up less and less. Your reactions to the exact same challenging situation will be different. You will develop an awareness of when you or others are being tempted and deceived by “the unseen forces” directly or indirectly.

This is a key part of how God is granting you “His power over death”. You take in the “sin”, Jesus defeats sin within you over and over, and as time passes you develop “immunity” to that particular sin until you become impervious to it.
This is not about having powers. We often associate mysticism with “spiritual powers” like healing, discerning spirits, etc. Note that many Catholic mystics never had “powers”. Know this and don’t get lost waiting for the Pentecostal powers for come upon you. Let me share my conversation with God about this.

Question: How do I describe or introduce myself to people?

God’s answer:

You are a contemporary mystic

Meaning: this is a very appropriate description because it explains why He uses current language to answer my question and the things He wanted me to ask, addressing things that interest us now spiritually and affect our faith.

Question: Father, I don’t exactly have any “proof to show”. I don’t do miraculous things like physical healing, I’m not a Marian visionary, etc.?

God’s answer:

You have My word.

Meaning: The word of God is the most “powerful and compelling” work and gift of all. Jesus would perform miracles only as a tool for people to listen to His word. It is the words of God that are important, this is why He would often tell people not to say anything about the miracles He would perform. Evangelization is our purpose.

Being able to serve as God’s messenger, be this to many people or to a specific person, is the greatest gift of all because people can forget miracles but the word of God remains.

And finally,

Question: God, What is your advice to anyone who is on the path?

God’s answer:

Don’t give up on Me.

Meaning: Keep in faith

Question: Anything else?

God’s answer:

That’s all you need.
